Yasukuni Shrine

Yasukuni-jinja Shrine was built in 1896 at the command of the Meiji Emperor to honor the souls of those who died in the battles of the recent revolution. From Edo-period samurai to casualties in World War II, over 2.4 million souls are enshrined at Yasukuni-jinja Shrine. The shrine’s grounds include the Yushukan War Memorial museum, which shows documents and artifacts related to the military history of Japan. A well-known spot for cherry blossom viewing, the shrine also hosts sumo tournaments and Noh plays.Visit Chiyoda
